I feel like I’ve said this every month for the past few months, but I cannot believe January is almost over. The past two weeks honestly haven’t been much to write home about.
FEELING: A bit stressed - the job search is taking its toll on me but eventually everything will work out. I have been trying to spend extra time outdoors to help calm my mind in the mornings and evenings by going on extra-long walks to get in some fresh air.
READING: I have just started two new books. I am aiming for one nonfiction a month this year, so I am tackling What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Haruki Murakami. Luckily, it’s pretty short so I can cross my January nonfiction off the list with a few days to spare. The other I have started is The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston. It’s the February book for a book club I was invited to by a couple of friends! I have no idea what a book club entails, but I am excited to participate next month.
ACHIEVING: I’m about to toot my own horn (I guess that is what my “achievement” section is about anyway), but there are a lot of people in my life with February birthdays and I feel as though I got great gifts for everyone that they will all enjoy. I sometimes get stuck on what to gift people, but I was ahead of it this year and got all my February gifts checked off my list before January even ended.
CREATING: I am still chugging away at completing my first yearly magazine. It has been so fun to comb through pictures from the last year, figure out a way to design them creatively, and then write about the experiences and memories they brought up. I hope to finish by the end of this week and send it to print by Feb 1. I am weirdly obsessed with all things print media right now (ironic as I write this online blog post) but I am excited to have this as a memory to come!
KEEPING UP: There hasn’t been too much going on. A few of my friends have moved to new spots in San Diego, so I’ve been able to check out their new spots at their housewarmings back to back these past two weekends. I have been getting back into my workout/running routine since getting back to San Diego after the holidays and have been very much enjoying that. All in all, kind of just settling into the New Year - I’d love to plan some trips or adventures, but for now, I am aiming to be smart with my money and not having any crazy expenses while still on the job hunt.
