#7 What The FRACK?
Gingerbread, White Elephants, and 10,000 Santas - what's more festive than that!
Happy Christmas Eve! December has absolutely flown by but has been filled with fun holiday events. We have a low key Christmas planned over here and I am excited to hangout with my family and enjoy the festivities.
FEELING:
In general—excited. At the moment—exhausted. Exhausted because I was just hit with the most awful 24-hour stomach flu (get your flu shots, folks - I hadn’t yet, and it was truly terrible).
Overall, I’m excited for the next couple of weeks! I’m going on vacation with my parents, and I find the new year exciting as well. I don’t usually feel a lot of anticipation come January 1, but The Girls on Haines have some big things up their sleeves for 2025, and I’m stoked to see where it all takes us!
READING:
I just finished Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros and will now patiently wait for Onyx Storm to release at the end of January. In the meantime, I’m starting Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah (my favorite author). Fun fact: I don’t read the blurbs for books before starting them, so I’m excited to see where this one takes me!
ACHIEVING:
Ami and I (along with 10,000 other people) ran the Pacific Beach Santa Run 5K last weekend and had a blast! When signing up, they provide you with a Santa “outfit” of sorts to wear. While the quality is terrible, it’s so much fun because everyone is dressed the same.

CREATING: We had a few of our girlfriends over to decorate gingerbread houses, and it was so much fun! We found some awesome kits at Target that were a bit different from the basic house. We ended up with a Donut Shop, Tree House (mine), Beach House, and a Barn (it was a Southern California, open-air concept barn as the roof had some ~issues~).

KEEPING UP: I spent last week in San Diego doing all the festive things—gingerbread houses, the Santa Run, and organizing a white elephant exchange with my trivia group which we were able to fit in between rounds of questions at the bar! All of it was super fun.
After that, I headed back to my parents’ place, where we’ve been visiting with neighbors and friends. We made a trip down to Portland to celebrate my nephew’s first birthday, Christmas with my sister and her family, and an evening with friends watching the Portland Christmas Ships.
Despite the flu taking over, the past few weeks have been fantastic, and I’m ready to close out the year surrounded by family and holiday cheer!
