Thanksgiving was a success with lots of Family time and my first ever Turkey Trot (a tradition I plan to personally keep up). I headed back to San Diego and the first week of December has been full steam ahead packing in all the Holiday activities.
FEELING: Creative - I go through phases of being in a creative rut and then having a million ideas come into my head at once. Maybe it is the feeling of the “new year” that is coming - but I currently have more project ideas flowing through my brain than I am capable of handling at the moment. At this point I am just trying to finish knitting the sweater I started a couple of months ago (takes a lot longer than I thought). That being said, I have started a list of all these projects so when I inevitably enter a creative rut again, I will have something to do.
READING: I am not normally someone who re-reads books but as Onyx Storm, the third book in the Empyrean series by Rebecca Yarros, releases at the end of January, I figured I’d refresh myself on the first two. I sped through Fourth Wing and have just re-started Iron Flame. Side Note: this has made me want to reread some of my favorite books as I definitely forgot a bunch of details, so its almost like reading them for the first time again.
ACHIEVING: I kind of feel like a broken record because I think I’ve mentioned this more than once, but I am very proud of the fact my running plan I created/have been following is working. I have been running faster for longer, something I truly thought wouldn’t be possible and although I still have a ways to go (nor am I close to Usain Bolt type speeds) - I like to congratulate myself on that. Not the largest achievement, but its never bad to be proud about yourself when putting in the work.
CREATING: We have been spending our time creating a Winter Wonderland in our home. Although the crazy, over the top Haines parties are on hold, we decided to have some of our closer friends over for a Christmas pre-game before heading out to one of the Christmas Pop Up bars in downtown San Diego this past weekend. We had a lot of fun cutting out tons of paper snowflakes and hanging as many lights as possible in our home. Plus we inherited an XL Christmas tree from Ami’s parents we were able to put up in our patio which was so much fun!

KEEPING UP: My week and a half at home was wonderful, settling into my parent’s new house and exploring the neighborhood - the best one they have lived in so far if i do say so myself. The views were absolutely stunning with the snow capped mountains in the distance surrounding the San Juan Islands - I’m excited to head back up there for Christmas in another week! I’ve spent a lot of time with friends since being back in San Diego - white elephant gift exchange, a couple Christmas bars, and walking around the neighborhood looking at lights. When Thanksgiving is so late in November, I feel like we have to pack in all the Holiday things before we all start to head our separate ways for the holidays.
