The weather in San Diego has been getting nicer and the sun now sets after 5:30 - things are looking up! (I still need a job tho..)
FEELING: Sore. I haven’t done any particularly intense workouts compared to my usual routine, but my left hamstring and lower back refuse to loosen up—no matter how much stretching, rolling, or muscle scraping I do. Not overly interesting.. but since it's nagging at me 24/7, it’s pretty much all I can think about.
READING: I’ve restarted The Midnight Feast by Lucy Foley. I first picked it up a couple of months ago but had to return it to the library, so now I’m tackling it again since it’s my March book club pick. I loved The Guest List by her as well, so I’m excited to see how this one pans out.
ACHIEVING: I finally finished knitting my sweater and… I do not like it—ha! Not to say I’m not super proud of the accomplishment, but it turned out to be more of a learning experience than a wearable piece.
Here’s what went wrong:
I don’t love the colors. I don’t hate them either, but I bought the yarn online and expected it to be more pastel than it actually is.
I used the wrong size knitting needles, so it’s smaller than I’d like. It fits, just not with the oversized look I was going for.
I read the pattern backward so although it looks okay, the pattern is not centered and the arms and body do not match up.
I’d never knit with two colors before, and it shows—it’s pretty lumpy since I didn’t quite figure out how to avoid pulling the yarn too tight when going back and forth between the two.
My yearly magazine also arrived in the mail, and I love it so much. I am so happy with how it turned out and can only hope I can fill my 2025 one with as many pages and adventures.

CREATING: Continuing from above, I’ve started knitting another sweater. It’s the perfect pastime during these dark months when there isn’t much to do outside past 5:30 p.m. This time, I have the right size knitting needles, yarn in colors I love, and—so far—I seem to have solved all my previous issues. Fingers crossed this one turns out wearable! Granted, the last one took me five months to knit, so who knows when this one will actually be finished.
KEEPING UP: Valentine’s week was quite busy. I had my first book club meeting, which was so much fun. I met a ton of new girls, and the hosts did an incredible job tying everything back to the book in ways I never would have imagined. It made me realize I may need to start paying closer attention to the finer details when reading…

Ami had Valentine’s day off of work so we spent our morning at a trampoline park (which I am now realizing may be the reason my back has been bothering me…) and then ate sushi with her brother and his roommate—a Haines Siblings’ Evening, one might say. We had a Marie Antoinette themed Galentine’s to attend on Saturday in which, of course, we had to go all out for our outfits (we love a theme and rarely get to dress up unless we host it). Most girls were in cute dresses and maybe had on a pearl necklace, meanwhile, Ami and I looked like we walked off the set of Bridgerton (the cheap version from season 1) - We wouldn’t have it any other way. Can’t say it was our best look but by far one of the funniest.

I live learning about the book club!!!
