Before I get into it I thought I’d give a little background behind what I am thinking about doing… I figured what the FRACK will be a ~weekly~ update on how life is going. What and how I am Feeling, Reading, Achieving, Creating, and Keeping up (FRACK - get it ;) ?) A bit of a personal journal some might say. Well why not just write it down and keep it to myself, because 1. I can type a hell of a lot faster than I can write all the thoughts that are flowing through my brain. 2. Family and friends have asked for a way to keep up with my life, granted this was before the summer 2024 European adventure so I am a bit late to the game, but I plan to do recaps on that as well. 3. Why not? Anyways, lets give this a go.
FEELING: Weird - I’ve been having a bit of a hard time readjusting to “normal life” at home - everything feels a bit stagnant after traveling and moving around every handful of days for four months straight. To finally be back and spend my days sitting in my room, staring at my computer and applying to jobs everyday feels a bit like I’m wasting my life away (not to be dramatic but my brain does feel like mush since I haven’t had to stare at a computer screen in a long time). I would really love to just spend everyday outdoors - hiking, adventuring, or trying/learning something new so I am trying to navigate that with the fact I need an income ASAP.
READING: After a stint of reading the entirety of the SJM universe this summer, believe it or not, my brain is a bit fiction-ed out. So, I am delving into the world of non-fiction starting with my TWO editions of Outdoor magazine that were delivered while I was gone which I will happily read cover to cover and hope that one day I can be published by them (big goals, I know).
ACHIEVING: I’m labeling unpacking and closet clean out as my big achievement of the week. I was able to unpack all my trip belongings as well as everything that was packed up for the summer while simultaneously filling three trash bin sized bags with items from my closet. As someone who holds on to clothes for way too long, this felt like a big accomplishment for me. I have also kept my room clean the entire week (mom - please be proud) which is silly but another big one for me as well.
CREATING: This blog - ha! But I also made my first cookie cake for my roommate’s brother’s 25th birthday this weekend and it turned out pretty well despite forgetting to add the salt (no one knew).
I’m excited to get back to any sort of creative activity as this summer, we had to resort to grocery store coloring books to keep the mind at ease. Despite loving my 72 pages of farm themed mediocre graphic designs to color, I’m stoked to have my craft/building/art materials around me again. Maybe I’ll finally knit the sweater I’ve been meaning to for a couple years now…
KEEPING UP: This past week was my first week back in San Diego after four months away and unpacking/settling back in has been the name of the game. Besides having to handle a broken toilet, clogged shower head and the removal of 8,000 bees from our patio, I’ve been able to catch up with a bunch of friends thanks to Wednesday night trivia, two birthdays and a music festival over the weekend. However, as the new week rolls around I aim to figure out a routine when it comes to working out, applying to jobs, but also having a bit of a social life “after work” when my friends are around. Attempting to find ~balance~ between it all.
Well thats all I got for my first WTFrack post - thanks to anyone who read. I’m excited to see where this takes me, spending time writing feels like I am actually able to exercise my brain a bit.
I LOVE the acronym!!
Hope you share the rest of your summer in Europe with us!
